Another BBC Radio Derby interview - Is your loft strong enough?
I was interviewed for the second time by Aleena Naylor - this time we discussed a recent news item about a loft collapsing on a man in Essex whilst he was sleeping! See a summary of the interview, with advice on how to use your loft:

Buy a new sofa
My client planned to buy a new sofa and chairs once she had moved house, but I convinced her that doing so now would increase the saleability of her current house. I only advised this as I knew she would be purchasing a similar sized property, so there wouldn't be a problem fitting them into her new home.

DIY Home Staging Report
I'm contacted numerous times by people living far away, where a regular consultation wouldn't be possible. So I developed a DIY report, that I prepare from photographs.
This client in S.W. London just sent photos of her empty property. I arranged the hire furniture, prepared a shopping list for the accessories, and supplied a detailed plan of where to put everything!

Name your rooms
When selling your home, it's important to show that each room has a purpose. Some of your rooms may be multi-purpose, like the office/lounge/dining room shown here, but you should only show one of it's uses when putting your home on the market. Move or hide the other items out of sight. A good test is to name each room - 'the dining room, the study, the spare bedroom,' and everything on show in those rooms should match the name.

Not the normal clutter
I recently spent a fascinating few days working with a client who's spent many years in the music industry. The memorabilia we uncovered was really exciting - quite different to the 'normal' clutter I come across. Items signed "love Phil" turned out to be Phil Collins, gifts from "Paul" meant Paul Young, UB40 jackets, items signed by Michael Jackson. Stories of a child-like party arranged for Michael Jackson, where a helter skelter was hired to use instead of the stairs. Tales of Wham in the early days. And lots more.
Looking forward to the final staging day, and thanks to my client for sharing all this with me!

Home Staging in Sutton Coldfield
I recently completed this beautiful 7 bedroom house in Sutton Coldfield.
My client was much more interested in playing golf than fluffing cushions, but luckily for me, realised just how much they needed the home staging process.

New Home Stylers' blog
Visiting so many different homes and meeting so many new people all the time means I have lots of little stories to tell. Friends and clients alike have all encouraged me to start a blog... so here it is.
I plan to report on home makeovers I'm currently involved with, and also to comment on some of the projects I've worked on over the last few years.
Feel free to leave comments, and share your own experiences with me.
Lynn
