Living Room:

Before

Today's modern TV's are great - but can be enormous.  The trick is to put some interesting focal points around it.   

After

Several of the delegates had projects relating to the living room - Rosey pained a scuffed wall...

And worked with Liz to create some beautiful panels for the cushions.

Julie ran out of tables to work on, so utilised the kitchen floor to cut out her cushions.

Before

This was the most awkward living room I've ever had to work with! Due to various extensions and alterations, the room has several awkward angles. The homeowners have always struggled with furniture arrangement, but never knew why. It's because there are too many angles to work with - it's hard to know which wall to follow with the furniture placement. Trish, who was responsible for this room, agonised over several arrangements, but settled on one we all agreed with.

The Study:

This long, thin room is one of the smallest in the house, but had a couple of uses - a study and an ironing room.  Liz and Peggy worked together to sort the bookcases, and Liz re-arranged the main shelves to give a calm, organised feel to the room.  The second desk is no longer needed, due to the shelf de-clutter, and the ironing board was moved permanently into its own area elsewhere.

We loved the wall colour, and just wanted to finish the room and add more luxury.

This was a lovely room, it just needed accessorising.  Peggy tried lots of options, but simple styling was best.

The kitchen/diner:

A wonderful family space, but the white walls felt grey and cold.  This was the only room we chose to paint in the house, as we needed to make it more inviting.

Gill took on the accessorising of the kitchen....

...and was very frustrated with everyone making themselves at home in 'her' room!  We couldn't survive without tea and coffee though, so we had to compromise and agree a time we would all vacate the space!

The wall colour doesn't show up very well in this photo - our professional photos should show it more, but it was beautiful. A very soft blue. Really calm and natural.

We were lucky, the decorators were already booked for the hall and it was painted before we arrived. We managed to place the homeowner's dramatic artwork in the hall, where everyone will notice it.

A delegate, Trish, was hoping it wouldn't fit though, she wanted to buy it for her own home!

Liz re-arranged this console table many times before settling on a fresh, simple arrangement.

The Snug:

This room was hardly ever used, and felt cold and uninviting.

We took the sofa from an unused upstairs room, and Jayne enjoyed practicing furniture arrangement in here until we were all happy.

The homeowners instantly claimed this room before the children arrived home!

What did the homeowners think of the makeover?

"Welcome to your new home!!"  Their faces say it all...

Each room had a similar reaction! They loved it all.

Lots of chatting and stories to tell, after a hectic 5 days.  Then the champagne was popped - thanks, that was really appreciated!

Final day of the makeover... WOW!

That's it, house complete!  The homeowners were absolutely delighted!  Some before and after photos of the house will be on my blog soon, but here's what we've been busy with over the last five days:

There was training at the hotel - me in this instance, but usually House Doctor's Annie Doherty:

There were demonstrations at the house - kitchen pelmets being made here:

Training doesn't even stop at lunchtime!!

There were lots of pieces of fabric...

There were furniture demonstrations...

There were window dressing demonstrations...

And I have no idea what I was demonstrating here!!!

But the excitement built up as the team awaited the arrival of the homeowners (well, actually the second arrival - they came too early and had to go for a walk!!):

Day 4 of the makeover...

No photos today, don't want to give anything away to the homeowners - they haven't seen the house since Monday morning! (C and R --- it's looking good!!!)

The training this morning was on interior photography and accessorising, then off to the house to practise.  There were several designated areas and the delegates had to practise 'staging' them for photographs.  Then all the accessories went back to the kitchen ready for the next area to be staged.

The furniture and artwork are all in place now and look great. The final countdown has begun, ready for the "Reveal" tomorrow afternoon - we can't wait!! It's amazing how much the delegates have learned since Saturday.  So much more confident in their ability - there will be some great new home stagers set up for business soon.
